Rideshare Safety & Security
Verify before you enter any vehicle.
Neighborly Rideshare is a local technology platform that connects riders with independent drivers. For your safety, please follow these verification steps before entering a vehicle.
1. Review Your Ride Details
Before your driver arrives, review the ride and driver information provided through the Neighborly Rideshare app, website, or official dispatch message. Depending on the booking method, this may include:
Driver’s name
Driver’s profile photo
Vehicle make, model, and color
License plate number
Estimated arrival time
Neighborly may also send a dispatch text message approximately 20 minutes before your scheduled ride.
2. Check the Vehicle
When the vehicle arrives, remain in a safe location and compare it with the information provided by Neighborly.
Confirm:
The license plate number matches
The vehicle make, model, and color match
The vehicle displays the appropriate Neighborly Rideshare identification or decal, when applicable
Never enter a vehicle if any of these details do not match.
3. Confirm the Driver
Ask the driver to identify themselves before entering the vehicle.
You may ask:
“Who are you here to pick up?”
The driver should provide your first name or the name associated with the ride. You should also confirm that the driver’s name matches the information provided by Neighborly.
For privacy and security, avoid stating your full name first.
4. Complete Ride Verification
Some rides may require an OTP verification code or QR code before the trip begins.
Do not provide your verification code to anyone other than the confirmed driver.
Do not send the code by text or provide it before the correct vehicle arrives.
Complete verification only after confirming the driver, vehicle, and license plate.
Your driver should not begin the ride until the required verification process is complete.
5. Trust Your Instincts
Do not enter the vehicle if:
The driver or vehicle does not match your ride details
The driver refuses to identify themselves
The license plate is missing, covered, or different
Someone other than the assigned driver appears to be operating the vehicle
The driver asks you to cancel the official ride and travel privately
You feel uncomfortable or believe something is wrong
Move to a safe, well-lit location and contact Neighborly Rideshare support. If you believe you are in immediate danger, call 911.
Additional Safety Tips
Wait indoors or in a safe, visible area whenever possible.
Avoid standing near traffic while waiting for your ride.
Keep your phone charged and accessible.
Wear your seat belt for the entire trip.
Do not share unnecessary personal, financial, or account information with the driver.
Do not accept an unconfirmed ride from someone claiming to be a Neighborly driver.
Never arrange or pay for an off-platform ride with a driver.
If traveling with a child or teen, confirm that the ride was scheduled under the appropriate Neighborly service and eligibility requirements.
Tell a trusted person about your trip when additional support would make you feel more comfortable.
If Your Ride Details Do Not Match
Do not enter the vehicle.
Contact Neighborly Rideshare through an official support channel and provide:
